Lead Custodian in Arroyo Grande, CA Lower level employment is treated as expendable, and small town politics/favoritism are definitely at work. However, it's still a decent place to be employed and you will feel bits of gratification. Job Coach in Arroyo Grande, CA I have worked for Lucia Mar for 4 years but have been in the same classroom for 13 years as I was a district employee. The transition from County to District was tantamount as the philosophy was different and treatment between staff and management was different. The priority was not as it should of been for the students but more towards the program itself and how to structure the program for the best of the program forgetting that we serve students. My 13 years in the classroom has been with Special Ed and in that time I have seen the structure and the need of the student go downhill with this District. Custodian I in Arroyo Grande, CA I was pleased with my time there. The faculty and staff at the school made the custodian feel like a part of the family.

The manager isn't friendly, but she isn't unfriendly either. She is not great with communication, and usually does not get back to you at all. In the end, you need to keep calling and emailing (and eventually cc in her manager) before she will get back to you. She has a habit of blaming her staff for her forgetfulness, but she is generally easy to get along with. You just have to be extra friendly with her. The best part of this job is the flexible schedule. You can choose when to work, which location, and for how long. The main downside is you have to regularly monitor the job board because postings get scooped up rather quickly. The pay is okay, above minimum wage, but managing to accumulate enough hours to make a decent income is difficult. This job is not for those who will be depending on it for paying bills, but rather for individuals who have the free time to spare. Overall, I would give it a 4 out of 5. Great workplace, awesome co-workers, decent manager. The pay is "eh", but the flexible schedule is amazing.
